Wood Blinds

It can be a website or store, I live in Miami, Fl.

I have tried dusting cloths but they just spread the dust around and don’t really clean.

The blinds I bought at Home Depot and had cut down to fit my windows are too long for the windows. Somehow the instructions for shortening the blinds were thrown away. I need to get instructions to shorten the blinds to the length of the windows.

I want to know which of the following brands: levolor or skandia, has the better quality 2 inch real wood blinds.I would also like to know the price for each, if you can.

We are looking to install blinds throughout our entire home. We wanted wood blinds, but then we saw that faux wood blinds are almost half the price. Would we be compromising a lot for quality if we purchased faux wood blinds instead of the real thing?

Right now I have some ugly white metal blinds that I want to change and I am not sure what color would go with my navy blue bedroom with white trims. Most of the Furniture will be white that i will have in the room. The only non white piece of furniture that I’m probably going to have is the bed frame or w.e its called and the side table for the bed,.. witch is a brownish wood color.

Any suggestions on a color for the blinds?

i need to purchase blinds for my new house and couldn’t make up my mind on whether to get wood blind or faux wood blind which is plastic made. they say it’s durable but i need to hear from you who has either faux or real wood blind what the real advantage of having them.. please help me decide!!!

I have maple floors with furniture that is dark wood as an accent color. My walls are white. I am looking at ordering wooden blinds. Should I get a maple color, dark wood color or white wood. Any interior design advice is appreciated.

We are getting new blinds for our kitchen – glass door to patio/deck. I was wondering whats new out there for blinds?? I heave heard of woven wood, or just wood verticals. Its that about it? HELP!

My landlord is installing new windows, inside and out. They are vinyl, and my blinds were hung on wood window frames. How does one hang window blinds on vinyl window frames?

I have a new faux wood 2" blind that I installed. When I pull the string to tilt them down, I find that the top slats close tight (touching the slat above and the slat below), however the slats near the bottom, though tilted, do not close tightly, allowing light through. Any ideas why?

Does anyone know where I can find some nice Windows Blinds that block UV rays/Sun Heat from coming into my room.

Im trying to find some on Jcpenney.com and target.com. Those are the two places I can olny get my Blinds from. I please need your help.

When the sun hits my room at around 2PM-7PM my room get HOT!. I have cheap plastic .00 blinds currenty, I would like to know if anyone here has the Faux Wood Blinds and if they block the UV rays out/Heat.

We have installed beautiful maple wood blinds in our town home. Strata now tells us we MUST have white facing the street.

Anyone know a quick or good way to color the back sides of EVERY maple wood slat white?

We’ve thought of paint, or paint pens – what a mess. Or adhesive tape? But would that work? Any ideas would be awsome to appease our anal strata board.

I have three sets of horizontal blinds (think faux wood, as opposed to smaller metal), on which the twister rods no longer twist the blinds open and shut. Any simple ways to fix this problem? They are all the same brand (in the house when we moved in), so unfortunately–probably a cheap brand, but I am still hopeful there is a solution other than replacing the blinds.

In the house my husband and I just purchased, the whole house is trimmed with VERY light wood (all trim and doors). I do NOT like this color very much. However, the kitchen cabinets and floor are a beautiful golden oak color. The walls are a "french-vanilla" almost beigh, off-white. There is a pretty spacious open floor plan, so one looks into the big kitchen from all living areas (front sitting room and formal dining room to one side of kitchen, and family room area off of the other side of the kitchen).

Would it be a no-no to get blinds throughout these living areas to match the golden oak color instead of the color of the light trim? Our various peices of furniture have the more golden/redish hues to them. Would this perhaps help unify the open spaces? I hate to spend hundreds of dollars on wooden blinds when I don’t like the color, but also don’t want my house to look ridiculous! Any advice is appreciated!!!

I am in the process of building my house. I am getting prices and ideas for my blinds and I am wondering what color blinds I should do. My home is a country wrap around porch, hickory kitchen cabinets and rustic trim. My doors are going to be white hollow core with a bead board look in them (Jeldwen, Sata Fe style), except the office door, it’s in the entry way and kind of a focal point so it’s going to be a double hung solid wood knotty alder door with windows in it. I am doing a rough sawn look for my base and case and I think I want to do white blinds. I am having trouble visualizing this. Will it look okay? I am going to have a lot of wood and neutral colors in my house so I kind of want to stay away from wood colored blinds. Any advice out there or any websites I can go to and see some photos of other windows and homes??
Also, I am looking cost effective. I don’t want super expensive, but I want a good quality blind. I am fine with faux woods, but I don’t want cheap crap either.
The exterior of my house is a tan, almost gray siding with a ledgestone wainscot in various shade of tan and dark browns and grays, white trim, dark charcoal shutters and dark stained rough sawn timber porch posts

The window measures 108 inches (9 ft.). Basically it is 3 standard 36 inch windows side by side, but no "wall" between them. Apparently they don’t make blinds that big, or curtain rods, at least they are not in stores. So I opted to go with 3 sets of 36 inch blinds and hung them from the top of the window frame. They look great except for one little issue – there is about a 1 in. gap between each blind which is causing a lot of light to come through & if you go outside you can peek through the crack. Is there any way of attaching fabric to the sides of the blinds or something to cover the gap? Any other suggestions? I really appreciate it. Thanks!
I thought about molding – I would still like to be able to open the windows though, so I would probably have to put the molding away from the windows a few inches?

I was cleaning house today and noticed little white/yellowish bugs crawling on my white faux wood blinds!! They’re a little dusty, but not too bad. I keep the house as clean as I can, it’s an old house with a lot of moisture from the basement. We’ve been running the air conditioner a lot lately. It’s a window/wall unit rather than central air. I’ve noticed the bugs more so on the blinds next to the air conditioner than on the other end of the living room. Does anyone know what these might be? I’ve read maybe "book lice"?? Please help….grossed out!
